Amanda Sloan  - Fresh Cuisine Recipe Book.
I recently read the new recipe book by Amanda J Sloan who is from New Zealand.  This book is for people looking for a Sugar Free, Gluten Free and Vegan Food. How does she do this? well this unique book only uses fresh fruit, vegetables, nuts, and spices as natural sweeteners. It is a diet full of enzymes for digestion, also using nutritious whole grains, beans, lentils, pulses and seeds. The only fat used is extra virgin olive oil which is my oil of choice. I found it is a great recipe book for detoxing the liver (as it uses Fresh produce), equalling a clean, energetic mind and body. The recipes were very easy to follow. This book is full colour, 92 pages, glossy cover and A4 and is available on Amazon

I opened Evelyn's book The Essence of Sound and my soul grinned. I stand in awe of this woman's gifts, abilities, and insights. She is a visionary and is committed to sharing her wisdom with us. To me, this is an encyclopedia of sound meridians, chakras, auric field and figure eight energies. It's for the beginner and the advanced. She has beautifully combined, in such a user friendly way, the core of energy work into one great book. I immediately felt it to be one of the most comprehensive books on the subject. I'm excited for all the possibilities and I appreciate the heart and love that is in this book. It's wonderful. Thank-you Evelyn.
Tawni K. Lawrence, LMT,CLP.

“The Essence of Sound is a welcome, comprehensive, and highly sophisticated guide to the body's energy systems. It teaches you how to use sound, herbs, crystals, gemstones, aromas, colours and affirmations to orchestrate the energies of your meridians, chakras and aura into a beautiful symphony. Beyond this, it integrates the body's complex energy systems into an encyclopedic guide we can all use and understand. I recommend it highly”

Diana Marchiel - Book Review`s

"Your Vital Child" By Mark and Angela Stengler, NDs This book was a wonderful reference to any parent looking for natural alternatives to treat and keep children healthy and happy. It has many references to healthy food choices, and recommended daily allowances for children's nutritional needs. The great thing this book offers that it talks about supplementation, as well as herbal applications for many different aliments. In addition to the alphabetical listings of diseases and aliments, there are sections in the book that specifically address: emergencies, vaccinations, breastfeeding, homeopathy, massage and acupressure, to name a few. I particularly liked the short section called "Your Child's Natural Medicine Kit". throughout the book there are sidebars that feature "Vital Facts" or "Case Histories", I liked the short blurps of information and statistics these provided. There are also references for parents and caregivers to find out more information, including websites and phone numbers of any particular groups they are interested in, such as the different therapies available. All in all I believe my family will benefit from having this book lying around the house, ready to refer to at any time. "10 Secrets to Success and Inner Peace" By Dr. Wayne Dyer A beautifully done book, with tons of brilliant analogies for how to make your own life more simple and fulfilled. Dr. Dyer goes into detail about creating a purpose-filled life that includes Love and God, as well as tips on following your path. He shows the reader how be more optimistic. He shows us how we have a choice in all of the things we do in life, and that although fate is involved, it is how you make your choices that lead you to where you want to go. I found this book an easy and enlightening read, and finished it feeling more refreshed and happy about life in general. A really special book. As soon as I read it I went out and bought my own copy. This book would also make a suitable gift for any new graduate, or anyone who is in the process of finding their own true path and happiness. Submitted by Diana Marchiel. The Disappearance of The Universe by Gary Renard I have personally found this to be a book that definitely brings my focus to taking one action over and over. Taking this action will ultimately awaken each of us and bring us “Home”. It has rekindled my desire to study “The Course In Miracles” once again and for that I am grateful. I will never look at life quite the same, reading this book created a paradigm shift in me. I truly realized things are simple and yet not easy. This book has also made so many of the New Age concepts more understandable for me. I highly recommend this book and encourage you to further study The Course In Miracles. Wellness Tip
Vegetarian Diets and Iron
Are you a vegetarian or mostly a vegetarian? Dieticians recommends consuming plenty of iron rich plant foods such as lentils, kidney beans and black beans, and whole grains. Iron-enriched products such as cereals and breads are also good sources. To enhance iron absorption, consume vitamin C rich foods too. These include orange juice, green peppers, tomatoes, potatoes, and broccoli. By following these simple guidelines, most non-meat eaters will get enough iron.

Compassion and the Individual
I believe that the purpose of life is to be happy. From the moment of birth, every human being wants happiness and does not want suffering. Neither social conditioning nor education nor ideology affect this. From the very core of our being, we simply desire contentment. I don't know whether the universe, with its countless galaxies, stars and planets, has a deeper meaning or not, but at the very least, it is clear that we humans who live on this earth face the task of making a happy life for ourselves. Therefore, it is important to discover what will bring about the greatest degree of happiness.....

Tuscan Leek & Bean Soup
Category: Soup
Description: Welcome those crisp winter days with a pot of hearty Tuscan bean soup. Leeks are a unique combination of flavonoids and sulfur-containing nutrients, the allium vegetables belong in your diet on a regular basis. Like their allium cousins, onions and garlic, let leeks sit for at least 5 minutes after cutting and before cooking to enhance their health-promoting qualities.
A good source of dietary fiber, leeks also contain goodly amounts of folic acid, calcium, potassium, and vitamin C. Easier to digest than standard onions, leeks have laxative, antiseptic, diuretic, and anti-arthritic properties.
Leeks contain many noteworthy flavonoid anti-oxidants, minerals, and vitamins that have proven health benefits.
Leeks are low in calories. 100 g fresh stalks contain 61 calories. Further, their elongated stalks provide good amounts of soluble and insoluble fiber.
Laboratory studies show that allicin reduces cholesterol production by inhibiting HMG-CoA reductase enzyme in the liver cells. Further, it also found to have anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-fungal activities.
Allicin also decreases blood vessel stiffness by release of nitric oxide (NO); thereby bring reduction in the total blood pressure. It also blocks platelet clot formation and has fibrinolytic action in the blood vessels, which helps decrease overall risk of coronary artery disease (CAD), peripheral vascular diseases (PVD), and stroke.
Leeks are great source of minerals and vitamins that are essential for optimum health. Their leafy stems indeed contain several vital vitamins such as pyridoxine, folic acid, niacin, riboflavin, and thiamin in healthy proportions. 100 g fresh stalks provide 64 µg of folates. Folic acid is essential for DNA synthesis and cell division. Their adequate levels in the diet during pregnancy can help prevent neural tube defects in the newborn babies.
In addition, leeks are one of the good source of vitamin A (1667 IU or 55% of RDA per 100 g) and other flavonoid phenolic anti-oxidants such as carotenes, xanthin, and lutein. They also have some other essential vitamins such as vitamin C, K, and vitamin E. Vitamin C helps body develop resistance against infectious agents and scavenge harmful, pro-inflammatory free radicals. Further, its stalks have small amounts of minerals such as potassium, iron, calcium, magnesium, manganese, zinc, and selenium.
Often overlooked in leeks is their important concentration of the B vitamin folate. Folate is present in leeks in one of its bioactive forms (5-methyltetrahydrofolate, or 5MTHF) and it is present throughout the plant (including the full leaf portion, not only the lower leaf and bulb).
Fresh leeks should be stored unwashed and untrimmed in the refrigerator, where they will keep fresh for between one and two weeks. Wrapping them loosely in a plastic bag will help them to retain moisture.
Tips for Preparing Leeks - Cut off green tops of leeks and remove outer tough leaves. Cut off root and cut leeks in half lengthwise. Fan out the leeks and rinse well under running water, leaving them intact. Cut leeks into 2-inch lengths. Holding the leek sections cut side up, cut lengthwise so that you end up with thin strips, known as the chiffonade cut, slicing until you reach the green portion. Make sure slices are cut very thin to shorten cooking time. Let leeks sit for at least 5 minutes before cooking.
With a more delicate and sweeter flavor than onions, leeks add a subtle touch to recipes without overpowering the other flavors that are present. Although leeks are available throughout the year they are in season from the fall through the early part of spring when they are at their best.
