Gluten-Free Double Mint Chocolate Squares

Description:
These are great for Valentines or Christmas. You can leave out the food colouring if you like but they won’t have that visual wow factor. Green for Christmas and red for Valentines Day. I like to keep them in the fridge for a cool mint treat. If you're looking for a green colour for your baking try adding a drop or two of chlorophyll. A healthier option to corn syrup is agave nectar and it has the same consistency.

Jo's Award Winning Butter Tarts

Description:
This is a slighly altered version of a traditional butter tart. The original recipe called for corn syrup, but agave is a healthier choice. While agave (pronounced ah-GAH-vay) is best recognized as the plant from which tequila is made, it has also been used for thousands of years as an ingredient in food. The nectar made from the plant is known in Mexico as aguamiel, or "honey water." The Aztecs prized the agave as a gift from the gods and used the liquid from its core to flavor foods and drinks. Now, due to increasing awareness of agave nectar's many beneficial properties, it is becoming the preferred sweetener of health conscious consumers, doctors, and natural foods cooks alike.

Jody's Honey Curry Salad

Description:
This recipe is packed with flavour...a great way to get your family addicted to salads! The kids will love the blueberries plus they have such great health benefits for all the family. Blueberries are rich in Vitamins A, C, E and beta-carotene as well as rich in the minerals potassium, manganese, magnesium. They are very high in fiber and low in saturated fat, cholesterol and sodium. But this is just the tip of the nutritional iceberg, for recent studies tell us that of all fresh fruits and vegetables, blueberries provide the most health-protecting antioxidants, those valuable elements which prevent cancer-causing cell damage and may limit the changes wrought by age related diseases. The properties of blueberries cross the blood brain barrier to effect these benefits. Antioxidants help to stop the production of free radicals. Free radicals are groups of atoms that impair the cells and the immune system which leads to disease. Anti-oxidants bind the the free electrons in free radicals.

Chapter 10: Pay Attention

Mindfulness

In this chapter Rubin explores what has typically been one of the most challenging aspects in my growth journey, that being Mindfulness.

That being said, through the years I have discovered my favorite mindfulness strategy for grounding myself in the present moment; checking in with my breath, my body, and my surroundings. Of course, it goes without saying that I must first recognize when I am not in the present moment...which can sometimes take awhile! It is somewhat disconcerting to realize how often our minds simply wander somewhere else - all the more reason to have an awareness tool that can support us in being present-moment focused.

Another interesting topic was examining "True Rules" for making decisions and setting priorities. One of the truths I have been living by for years now is the following: "It's not what you do, it's how you do it" which translates quite nicely into a handy decision making technique: 'It's not what you choose, it's how you choose it!" In otherwords, if I am doing things or choosing things that come from a place of should's, have-to's, obligation, or guilt - it doesn't seem to matter what I do, it rarely works out well, and on the other hand, when I choose things while in alignment with what’s important to me while remaining true to my values, things always seem to work out for the best for all who are involved, it's quite amazing really.

I happen to come from a grounding that our rules are not inherently good or bad, right or wrong...they simply create results. It is our job therefore to look at the results and consciously decide whether or not we are satisfied and adjust accordingly.
If we desire new results, stimulating the mind in new ways is a wonderful strategy for growth. Whether we use a non-dominant hand for day-to-day tasks or concentrate on a new way of doing something, it really forces us to be present and show up 100% for the task at hand, something that we can often get away without doing when operating out of my areas of expertise, or habit.

I particularly enjoyed the idea one of her reader's had for changing passwords that she used so often in a day to reflect an affirmation, or a goal she might be working on, what a great way to further engage the reticular activating system...I think I am going to adopt that one myself!

Be here now!

~ Lyndsay

Review of 'Connect to Your Own Power Workshop'- with Cindy Smith

Cindy Smith's workshop has become a main staple in my life. I have been exploring my personal power, and the angelic realm ever since, With the clear and careful guidance of Cindy's teachings from the Angelic realm, my spiritual level has elevated significantly and my energies are attune to higher vibrational levels. I no longer fear these energies because I now understand what they are and how to protect and clear myself.
A weekend of guided meditation with Huna and dolphin energy has really grounded my clairsensience personality. Chakra healing and cleansing with the Angels has added to my Reiki and Crystal knowledge. It is exciting to now be able to add the Angel card reading modality to my vessel of gathering and learning along my spiritual journey.
Cindy Smith is offering the Angel Empowerment Practitioner™ - Certification Course in Penticton this March, 2012 and a mini workshop at the Spring Festival of Awareness in Naramata, BC

What is heart disease? Coronary heart disease or coronary artery atherosclerosis is the number one cause of death both in women and men. Many people refer to it as CoQ10 but its full name is Coenzyme Q10. First, there are at least two forms of this little gem; Ubiquinone is the less expensive form and the poorer absorbed.
