Turmeric Lemonade

Print Friendly

Description:
This orange-colored root is an anti-inflamatory, helps Alzheimer’s, and lowers bad cholesterol. Turmeric is used for arthritis, heartburn (dyspepsia), stomach pain, diarrhea, intestinal gas, stomach bloating, loss of appetite, jaundice, liver problems and gallbladder disorders.

Turmeric is also used for headaches, bronchitis, colds, lung infections, fibromyalgia, leprosy, fever, menstrual problems, and cancer. Other uses include depression, water retention, worms, and kidney problems. And, although it stains everything, including your teeth, temporarily, it really works to clean your teeth, whitening them, without damaging your teeth like peroxide does.

Turmeric is pretty much a super root with super powers. It’s packed full of antioxidants, has anti-inflammatory properties, is great for brain health, lowers risk of heart disease, and has been found to lift depression. In this clinical trial, on major depressive disorder (MDD), Curcumin (the active ingredient in turmeric) equaled the effects of the prescription drug fluoxetine (the generic form of Prozac), without the adverse effects!

Ingredients:
4 cups cold filtered or sparkling water

2 tablespoons freshly grated or powdered turmeric (peel it by holding a spoon against the root, convex side towards you, and lightly brush the spoon against it- the skin should come off easily)

4 tablespoons 100% maple syrup, honey or Stevia if you are avoiding sugar

Juice of 1 1/2 lemons or limes

Optional: add the juice of 1 blood orange
Optional" Add some apple cider vinger

Directions:
Combine all ingredients into a small pitcher, stir and serve with a slice of lemon as a garnish

Servings: 4

Category: Slow Cooker!
Description: How simple is this make and it is such a great way to use these amazing veggies.

Broccoli and cauliflower are members of the cruciferous family of vegetables that includes cabbage, turnips, rutabaga, kale, bok choy, Brussels sprouts and mustard greens. The nutritional value of broccoli and cauliflower combined with its low calories make these vegetables a must have on any healthy eating plan.
There is a high level of vitamin C in broccoli. Broccoli is also packed with vitamin A, beta carotene, B vitamins especially B3 and B5, folic acid, phosphorus, potassium, iron, chromium, which is an easily absorbed form of calcium, zinc and lots of fiber. It's also loaded with carotenoids - antioxidants that are thought to help with weight loss.

Cauliflower is at its best from December through March when it is in season and most plentiful in your local markets. Cauliflower contains allicin, which can improve heart health and reduce the risk of strokes, and selenium, a chemical that works well with Vitamin C to strengthen the immune system. Cauliflower can also help to maintain a healthy cholesterol level.
